Our Philosophy: Comfort First
While I aim for beautiful imagery, I cannot promise specific poses. I prioritize your baby’s safety and comfort above all else, posing them only in ways that feel natural and easy for them.
Before I Arrive: Setting the Stage
The Environment: Please set your thermostat to 72°F. A warm house keeps the baby comfortable and sleepy when we move between poses.
A Contented Baby: Newborns photograph best in a deep sleep. To encourage this, I recommend giving them a long bath 1.5 hours before the session.
Feeding: Please interact with the baby and wait to feed them until 45 minutes before our session. Ensure they get a good burp! This timing prevents us from spending the session waiting for them to fall asleep.
Wardrobe: Please have the baby dressed in a button-up or zip-up outfit (avoiding anything that goes over the head) or simply wrapped in a blanket. This allows me to undress them for the shoot without disturbing their sleep.
Helpful Tools & Comfort
The Pacifier: Even if you don’t typically use one, having a pacifier handy for these 1-2 hours can be a lifesaver for soothing the baby between poses. If you prefer not to use one, I completely respect that.
Milk & Bottles: I recommend having a bottle ready. A bottle feeding usually takes 5–10 minutes, whereas breastfeeding can take 40 minutes. Using a bottle once during the session will not cause nipple confusion and will help us maximize our photography time.
Soothing Sounds: I will use a white noise app to mimic the rhythmic sounds of the womb, which babies find incredibly comforting. Please help me maintain a quiet, calm environment to keep the baby settled.
What to Have on Hand
Essentials: Please have diapers, wipes, a comfort blanket, and burp cloths nearby.
Skin Care: Dry or flaky skin is common. You can apply a natural baby oil or Eucerin to soften flakes. Don't worry if it's still visible—I provide professional retouching.
Props: I provide all blankets, hats, and props, but if you have a special heirloom or creative idea, please let me know at the start of the session!
The "Oops" Factor: It is perfectly normal for babies to have accidents while undressed. Don't be embarrassed! I have towels ready, and all my backdrops are laundered with baby-safe detergent after every shoot.
Family & Styling
What to Wear: Solid colors like white or ivory work best. Simple, soft patterns are great, but avoid anything distracting.
Boys: Jeans and barefoot (no shirt) look timeless.
Girls: Simple dresses or gowns are ideal.
Moms: Comfort is key! I do suggest wearing makeup—specifically mascara and lip gloss—to help you feel your best and make your features pop in the photos.
Note: We will begin with family portraits, so please be ready when the session starts!
Sincerely, Vlad
